My Professional Background

 

I have been practicing psychology since 1976, doing behavioral therapy, treating the disabled, doing family and individual therapy, and consulting in schools and other programs.

I founded and directed a large group home for adolescents with ADHD, learning disabilities, and family/personal issues requiring out-of-home placement for the person. The program was a rehabilitation program encouraging independent functioning in all areas, from 1991 until my semi-retirement in 2020.

 

I worked in the Children’s Units of Sha’are Zedek Medical Center, a large acute care hospital, in Jerusalem from 1990 until 2016 as a psychologist, working with children and adolescents with chronic medical issues, after accidents, after terror attacks, etc. Did staff training and supervision of the treatment staff (art therapists, music therapists, drama therapists, animal assisted therapists, etc.).

I was the psychologist of the Counseling and Rehabilitation Clinic of the United Kibbutz Movements from 1988 until 2008, working in many kibbutzim and in the kibbutz group homes.

Prior to moving to Israel in 1986, I worked in Los Angeles with disabled children and adults and also provided therapy to children and adults, from 1973 until 1986.

 

About Me:

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, USA.

 

During college, I spent my junior year at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where I met my future Israeli wife. We married at the end of that year, and lived many years in the US and have been in Israel consistently since 1986.

 

I did an M.Sc. in Rehabilitation Counseling and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology both from the University of Southern California.

 

I began working with people with developmental disabilities in LA, both in group home settings as well as with those still living in their parental homes.

 

In 1986, we moved back to Israel, where we have been living in Mevasseret Zion, a suburb of Jerusalem, ever since.

 

We have 3 children, 14 grandchildren (so far) and 4 great granddaughters (so far).
